An individual who laced sweets with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two children who were nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight children and one adult became sick at the location in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was held in detention ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he ran.
The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the children, the prosecutor said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had played this game with the young males "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in July 2025.
The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepson had concerns about the activities, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to have a look in the individual's items."
The prosecutor explained items including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were discovered, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She explained the man proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six children that night - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
Mrs Prior explained the minors were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement a second time.
She stated the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five youngsters.
