The artist has given the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to preserve the Britain's grassroots concert spaces.
Fender was presented with the cheque on mid-October as his latest record his work was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.
The musician has chosen to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the crucial part grassroots venues played in his beginning days.
"I wouldn't be doing my current career if it wasn't for all the gigs I performed around the region, and beyond, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These locations are iconic, but they are in difficulty."
From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these venues have shut down – roughly 16% of the entire UK sector.
In the last year, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by including a small levy to their ticket prices, which supports local stages.
He also participated, generating over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to assist 38 local spots across Britain.
These funds helped locations that were confronting possible closure due to challenges arising from floods, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as permit problems, court cases and sound issues.
Other venues were granted financial assistance in modernizing infrastructure and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and concertgoers.
"The idea that money from concerts in major spaces backs the smaller venues, where it begins for artists like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has stated.
Fender is among several artists to give his award winnings to charitable organizations.
Back when Pulp earned the award in the mid-90s for their record Different Class, frontman Jarvis Cocker stated that the act would donate their winnings to the charity War Child.
In 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite split her prize across a few good causes, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.
"Additionally, I contributed a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked updated gear," the artist shared with outlets.
Two years ago, they contributed their winnings to the local youth club that supported their group, alongside other local music groups.
Additionally 1994 winners M People contributed their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was found to have the illness.
"The victory was quite enough," remarked vocalist the singer. "The money was the bonus but we could do without the bonus, because we had the honor. So our victory touched somebody else's life."
In the past week, the MVT shared it had protected two grassroots venues in south-east England, by placing them under community ownership.
One venue in Southampton and the other in that location were bought under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is supported by the arts council and music fans who purchase "ownership units" in the properties.
